Stephen started riding at the very young age of eight, having nagged his mum and dad to let him start lessons. When he then asked to help at the local riding school, he was told he was too young but was so insistent his parents offered to pay for him to be allowed to help! 20 years later and his love and commitment still hasn’t worn off. When Stephen left school, he immediately started working at a riding school, doing the usual mucking out duties, helping back young horses and also started teaching. Over the years his experience has grown, working freelance for a while and for the last few years has been working at Biggarshiels Carriages. Through his work there, he has been able to add carriage driving to his C.V. At C.C. Equestrian, Stephen has broken four ponies to drive and competed one of them, Alfie, in minor competitions. Alfie now drives as a pair with his half brother Soprano and Stephen has great hopes for them both in the future. Stephens ambition has always been to start a riding school, allowing other youngsters to have the opportunity he did. And so, the adventure begins ….
Lynn didn’t start riding until she was 21, although she had shown interest when she was much younger. Her parents, however, decided that learning to play the piano was much safer. And they were right - piano lessons were safer and much cheaper too! Once Lynn started riding and working around horses, the obsession grew and she purchased her first horse, Goldie, at 25. A few years later, a wee Shetland cross called Pepper was given to her on loan from a very good friend and shortly after that she purchased her boy Charlie Brown as a foal. The others, well that’s another and very long story!! If you have few hours to spare, she would be more than happy to tell you all about it.
