38” 16 year old chestnut Shetland pony mare.
Camella is a fantastic lead rein/first pony. She can turn her hoof to nearly anything.
She was on loan for a few years to a very good friend for her young sons, during that time she went on beach rides, to school fete’s, Xmas fairs, hacked and has even popped over some jumps. After purchasing a Shetland sized carriage we decided to break Camella to harness. As this proved to be successful and she seemed to enjoy it, and as we own her daughter Suzi, who's similar in height and has her fab nature, we hope to eventually drive them as a pair. Camella has proved to be a huge hit in the school with the younger children who are just starting out in their riding experience.
Lynn is hoping to use her in her new venture taking ponies out to nurseries, schools, sheltered housing facilities etc as “therapy ponies”. Camella's son Hamish, who we also own, is is currently on long term loan to very good friends.
38” 14 year old chestnut shetland pony mare.
Lynn purchased Suzi when she was still a foal at foot. Suzi is definitely her mother’s daughter with a great nature and attitude to work. Like her mum, Camella, we decided to break her to harness and she was fab. Again she is a fantastic pony for our younger clients and will also hopefully be used for therapy pony work.
13.2 hh 9 year old chestnut gelding - Welsh Section C – Redpools Medici x Parvadean Dante
We were given Alfie as an unbroken, ungelded 3 year old. He is an absolute superstar and Stephen broke him to harness when he was 4 – he took to this like a duck to water. He is also a fantastic ridden pony. In 2020 we decided to drive him and his half brother Soprano as a pair. and they go together like a dream.
Alfie was shown in hand as a youngster winning many classes and championships. He has taken part in a few minor driving competitions and is a great prospect for driven classes in the future. He is proving to be an excellent ridden pony as well and has taken part in the Edinburgh Riding of the Marches in the past. Alfie is a massive favourite with our young clients.
13.2hh 17 year old skewbald mare - Cob Cross
Gem was a children’s lead rein pony/first ridden in the past and has more recently bred a couple of foals. When we bought her, she had just weaned a foal and 6 months later we discovered that she was going to foal again! S one fold call this a BOGOFF (Buy one get one free!). In June 2021, she gave birth to our gorgeous Ruby who we are absolutely delighted with. Gem came back into work at the school at the end of 2021 and is a fantastic, loving pony who loves lots of attention.
13.2hh 16 year old Piebald Cob
Murphy is a very handsome boy with an extremely impressive mane and forelock. Murphy is an extremely laid-back lad who enjoys hacking. He can be lazy in the school but works nicely when pushed. He is the kind of pony who looks after his rider.
At the end of 2021, poor Murphy had colic and had to be taken into the Royal Dick Veterinary Hospital to have surgery - thankfully it was successful and he has made a full recovery. According to the vet, the colic was due to a historic worm damage. H e is now on a very strict worming programme (which all our horses and ponies are on). This highlights how important a good worming programme is.
14.2hh 15 year old Piebald Mare Cob X
Skye was purchased a few years ago with a foal at foot. Her foal, called Luna is now around 16hh and is being ridden. Luna's new owner keeps us updated as to her progress, which is fantastic.
Skye is a firm favourite with out clients, although she has her 'moments'!
13.2hh 5 year old Piebald Cob
Bob the Cob - what can you say! He is the cutest wee button ever. Only 5 years old and the most adorable boy. Still young and learning himself, everyone loves him
14.2hh 8 year old Piebald Cob
We were fortunate to be offered to purchase this boy from firends. Stephen had ridden and excercised him on their behalf in the past and had liked him so much that he said "..if you are ever considering selling him, please let us know". He is proving to be a very popular boy and is multi-talented. He has recently been Stephens trusty steed on various Common Rides.
15hh 11 year old Piebald Cob
We purchased Poppy from the same place as Bob and again we have not been disappointed. She is proving to be a brilliant girl. Stephen's brother John has been taking her to he Common Rides and she's taking it all in her stride
14.2hh 13 year old Piebald Mare Cob
Another purchased from someone we knew. Sally is a big girl - as wide as she is tall - but don't let that fool you. She knows when there are beginners on board but adjusts when there is someone experienced and despite her looks, can shift! Very popular girl with an amazing nature.
34" 16-year-old skewbald miniature Shetland mare - Forehead Leroy x Tawna Ambrosia
Another exceptionally well-bred Shetland. Lynn came across Ellie at Ayr Show when her first Shetland Cousland Buttercup (BB) came 2nd to Ellie in their class. It was love at first sight and it turns out that she has similar breeding to BB. Many years later, Lynn was lucky enough to have the chance to have Ellie on loan with a view to buy - which of course she did! Ellie has been extremely successful in her showing career and is one of our ponies that we may use in the future for therapy work. She's great at looking after our very, very young clients when out riding. Out nickname for her is "Ellie Belly" - if you've met her you'll know why!
12.2hh 9 year old Piebald Cob
Tom was bought unseen from down South - it took a good few months for us to get his weight up and then assess his abilities. 9 months later, he is an absolute superstar with the most amazing mane and gorgeous blue eyes - a real Gypsy Cob.
12hh Grey Roan Welsh Section A - Hope Amanda x Hope Elroy
Once again a lovely pony purchased from a friend. She is absolutely stunning and is amazing with the kids. Lynn has had her out in hand showing recently and as in the past, has been very successful.
17.2hh 28-year-old Bavarian Warmblood Bay Gelding – Domingo x Leila
When Lynn saw Charlie 4 hours after he was born, knew he was ‘the one’ and he became her baby boy. She has owned him since he was 6 months old. Charlie was shown successfully in hand as a youngster and has won various dressage and showing classes throughout the years. 28 years later he’s still going strong and enjoys the odd hack out. Most definitely Lynn's horse of a lifetime.
Currently standing around 16hh, rising 3 years old Black Irish Draught filly - Classic Scot x Laighlands Deils Cauldron
Luna is Stephen’s baby. She arrived when she was weaned and is currently just enjoying life as a youngster and the attention of both humans and fellow horses. This summer, she will be introduced to having a saddle and bridle and eventually a human on her back. Watch this space!
12.2hh 18 year old Palomino Welsh X gelding
Teddy was given to us 7 years ago. He is a very loving boy who has won numerous in hand showing classes and a few championships since he came to us. Due to some issues he had before he came to us, Teddy probably won’t be a ridden pony, however, he will stand for hours on end to be groomed and will happily give cuddles to anyone who will accept them. Teddy is one of the ponies we hope to use for therapy pony work.
34” 19-year-old piebald miniature Shetland stallion – Romany Kinsman x Romany Virtue
Lynn bought Badger 11 years ago as a showing pony. He is exceptionally well bred and is registered with the Shetland Pony Stud Book and also the British Skewbald and Piebald Association. He was graded joint stallion champion at the BSPA grading. His sire, Romany Kinsman and grand sire, Romany Paco, were prolific European and World Champions. He has been successfully shown throughout the years but for the last few, has been “nanny” to 4 young colts, including Soprano. He is a lovely lad and very easy to handle.
34” 26-year-old black miniature Shetland mare - Cullerne Edward x Ella of Bayview
Emily is a very well-bred pony originating from a stud in Orkney. Bought at Carlisle sales in foal with Star, Emily was already known to us as we had bought a few Shetlands from one of her previous owners. Emily is mum to Star and another of our mini’s, Dusty Bluebell (currently on loan to friends) and also grandmother to Alexander.
28” 15-year-old black miniature Shetland gelding – Cousland Starlite x Nessie’s Poppy
Alexander is the smallest of our ponies, with the longest name and the biggest attitude. He was gelded late and looks on the other Shetlands as his “girls” and will chase off even the biggest horses – he definitely has “Wee Man Syndrome”. Alexander is too small to be ridden or driven but is such a character. We love him dearly and happy to have him as a field ornament. He has been earmarked as one of our possible therapy ponies
32” 7-year-old Piebald miniature Shetland gelding – Stranduff Maxwell x Stranduff Jeanette
Freddie came to us as a 4-month-old foal along with Bam Bam and Barney. They were sold originally at the Aberdeen Shetland sales as newly weaned foals for the ridiculous price of £10!! We were fortunate to purchase them for £75 from a local dealer. Freddie has grown into a fine boy and exceptionally strong.
34” 7-year-old Chestnut miniature Shetland gelding - Stranduff Gypsy King x Mailand Gigi
Bam Bam came from the same dealer as Freddie. Lynn had liked the look him when he was advertised but he’d already been sold. When the sale fell through, Stephen and Darran very kindly bought him as a gift for her. As we already had a pony called Star, we had to think of another name. As we already had Freddie and Barney it was obvious he had to be named Bam Bam – they are collectively known as the Flintstones. Bam Bam is an apt name for him as he is a very strange wee boy but absolutely gorgeous to look at.
34” 19-year-old skewbald miniature Shetland stallion Tawna Mr Kipling x Tawna Fanfare
Mac was a bit of an impulse buy – he is exceptionally well bred from a very famous and well-established stud in Cornwall. Mac was shown and won numerous classes in the past and has bred some outstanding foals. Mac is also broken to drive. He is quite the Mr. Personality (among other names !!) and very popular at the yard.
11hh 13-year-old Shetland x pony mare - Emily of Seb ay x ?
Well, what can we say about Star! Her mother was bought at Carlisle sales, supposedly in foal to a miniature Shetland stallion. 2 1/2 months later, Star arrived and on first sight it was obvious she was definitely NOT a pure miniature Shetland! On further investigation, it is thought that she is a mini Shetland x Appaloosa/Welsh cross. She has the most fantastic movement and is exceptionally quick. Star has taken a long time to mature and has only recently been properly backed but is now proving to be very relaxed and accepting. She has also been reined and ready to put in the carriage.
.
Soprano is a 12.2hh, 7-year-old chestnut gelding - Welsh Section C X SHP – Redpools Medici x Rotherwood Spring Holly
Soprano came to us at 6 months old and was an extremely strange looking wee boy. He was an ugly duckling who has grown into a beautiful swan. He has also turned out to be very talented, driving individually and as a pair with his half-brother Alfie.
Ruby is Gem's foal. We had no idea Gem was in foal until the end of February 2021, then Ruby arrived in June 2021! Clever Gem managed to birth on her own - we had camera's in the stable but of course at the crucial moment it went off line! Ruby now stands around 13.1hh, just slightly smaller that her mum and should make around 14.2/15hh. She is a stunner and we have high hopes for her in the future. We will hopefully get her out to some shows in 2022 to get her used to the 'big wide world'.
We have been fortunate to place some of our other precious Shetlands on long term loan. They are all thriving and we get regular updates on their exploits
